Why everyone keeps coming back.

La Esquina Del Sabor Catracho is a vibrant Honduran restaurant nestled in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood, offering an authentic taste of Honduras that transports diners straight to Central America with every bite. This cozy yet lively spot on 2535 N Laramie Ave is a beloved destination for those craving the rich, bold flavors of Honduran cuisine, where tradition meets heartwarming hospitality.

The menu is a celebration of classic “comidas típicas hondureñas,” showcasing generous plates like the Carne Asada served with frijoles, fluffy rice, fresh salad, queso, crispy tajadas de guineo (fried green plantains) or corn tortillas, and creamy avocado—all for just $10.99. Equally enticing are the Pinchos, skewers bursting with savory grilled meat, accompanied by the same comforting sides, delivering layers of smoky, savory goodness that linger delightfully on the palate.

For dinner, La Esquina Del Sabor Catracho offers hearty, satisfying options such as the Cena Especial, featuring tender carne asada, a perfectly cooked egg, cheese, butter, ripe avocado, sweet platano maduro, and fresh chismol salsa—a vibrant and tangy complement. Or opt for the Cena Catracha, a simpler but equally delicious plate combining frijoles, egg, cheese, butter, avocado, and plantains. These dishes perfectly embody the soul of Honduran home cooking, each element harmonizing in flavors that are both familiar and deeply comforting.

No Honduran meal is complete without a sweet finish, and here the house-made Flan and Arroz con Leche provide the perfect balance of creamy, sweet delight to close your dining experience on a high note.

The atmosphere at La Esquina Del Sabor Catracho enhances the culinary journey with an inviting ambiance filled with upbeat Honduran music that infuses the space with warmth and cultural pride. The friendly, attentive service adds to the feeling of being part of an extended family gathering, making it a true refuge for those seeking genuine Honduran flavors away from home.

Customers consistently praise the restaurant for its delicious food and welcoming vibe. Lucianne Romero found her first visit pleasantly memorable, recommending the dinner wholeheartedly. Jesimiel Lopez highlights the exceptional food and attentive service, though notes the restaurant could benefit from a refreshed look—an honest insight welcoming continued growth. Cristian Estevez Chacon emphasizes the authentic experience, from the freshly made baleadas and tortillas to the soulful music, capturing the essence of “comida catracha.” Deborah Luckett shares how the variety, including the Pollo con tajadas de guinea verde and baleadas, left a lasting impression, ensuring they return on their next trip to Chicago. And Aracely Villasenor reminds us that though it may be busy, the wait is unquestionably worth the flavors that come out of this kitchen.

For anyone eager to immerse themselves in true Honduran cuisine enriched with culture, warmth, and tradition, La Esquina Del Sabor Catracho promises a dining experience that not only satisfies hunger but feeds the heart. Whether you’re seeking a casual lunch, a comforting dinner, or a taste of home, this little gem offers an authentic slice of Honduras right in the heart of Chicago.

The food was really good, the waitress was very attentive. The five stars are solely based on the food and the service. I think the place needs improvement in other areas, like the presentation, it looks old. Management was a bit rude towards their employees, you are not in Honduras anymore.

My husband, myself, and a friend ate there. Two of us ordered Pollo con tajadas de guinea Verde ( fried chicken with fried plantains and salad), one order of fried chicken and French fries, and some balidas. The food was great. We plan to eat there again on our next trip to Chicago.

Food was amazing! Service was great and fast. Absolutely loved everything we ate there. We had tortilla con quesillo with beans and chicharrón that I am now craving! Pollo con tajadas, baleadas, cena típica and pastelitos de harina and everything was absolutely delicious! Will definitely go back whenever we are in town. Gotta love a great Honduran restaurant.

A really good Honduran restaurant in Chicago! Something we have been looking for for a long time. Pleasantly surprised with the food, really authentic. Start off with Jugos de natural (natural juices) either w or w/o leche (milk) I had the carne asada dinner (skirt steak) which comes with beans, rice, salad, cheese, avocado and tortilla. The meat was a little wrk done, so you should tell them in advance how you want it cooked. Each Sunday they have a different soup available for purchase (sopas de fin de semana). The restaurant is small and very casual, it looks like they have a very brisk carryout business, I want to go back here to try one of the fish dinners and one of those special soups that are only available on Sundays.
